I'm combining these days as they've been pretty uneventful, consisting of the library, the pool, a washing machine, and the store. Come to think of it, they really weren't much different from any other day this summer..
We got up early Wednesday and took the ranger's dog for a walk. She's an exuberant pup and really needs exercise to rid herself of her abundance of nervous energy. Once she's walked all is well with the world.
We then headed to town for a four stop at the library. It's one of Jack's true enjoyments in Wrangell so I thought that he should get his fill since we didn't have a trip planned.
While Jack read/surfed, I did laundry at the bunkhouse and spent the downtime back at the library.
After shutting down the library (closes at 5, reopens from 7-9) , we adjourned to the pool. Jack decided to run as he and his mom are planning on running the 5k race at Bearfest. I started running before the library's close as I needed to get another long run in this week. The weather was absolutely beautiful again as I ran along the oceanfront - I even wore sunglasses.
When I returned to the pool, I found Jack playing walleyball (volleyball played in a handball court) with the librarian and a few other folks from town. I stretched while he played a best of seven series.
On the 10th, we spent the day at the ranger's house. I did a load of laundry, listened to podcasts of my favorite radio personality (Mike Rosen), and cleaned up my work email. Jack and I took the dog for several walks throughout the day. In the afternoon, we watched "Django".
The rain and temps both started to fall as the day progressed. We said goodbye to the pooch and headed back to camp around nine. We saw a bear cub about 100 feet from our site- no sign if mama, although we could hear her crashing through the brush.
