Review of Snow White and the Huntsman

Jack-
Wow it has been so long since I blogged I don't know where to start! As you can see blogging isn't really my thing. The last movie that was shown here was Snow White and the Huntsman. But you already know that because my Dad already told you that. Anyway, I just have to say, wow, that was the one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The leading actress, Kristen Stewart. She shows no emotion throughout the whole movie, and not in the way that is all mysterious and awesome but in a I-don't-know-how-to-be-a-good-actress kind of way. Throughout the whole movie she seemed very socially awkward, in the way that she was always muttering under her breath at the most suspenseful moments, making the scene very anti-climatic. The story line was very good so that made up for the terrible lead. One thing that I really disliked in this movie was the accents. All the characters spoke in thick British and Scottish accents, which is fine if you are British (or Scottish). But to me the dialog sounded something like this.
Dwarf 1: Tis ger sis the czern er
Dwarf 2: Hy ths sis the herntsmarn you gerts or many
Huntsman: I don't know what you are talking about, it is in the forest.
As you can see, you can understand what some of the characters are saying but because they are responding to characters you can't understand, you have no idea what they are talking about. I give it a rating of, drum roll please, one and a half stars.

  1. Wow - You're a tough critic, Jack. One and a half stars. Well, actually, I'm glad to hear it because that really isn't my kind of movie from what I've heard of it - kind of grizzly (No, not like a bear) and dark. I'm into much lighter fare for the most part. So, based on your review, I think I will pass on this one. Thanks for saving me the time and money - if I ever change my mind, I'll wait for it to be on 'the dish.'
I finally got down to see the YSL show at the Denver Art Museum and I can see why you were critical of it but I loved it - of course I enjoy pretty and unusual clothes a lot more than you do and I can remember how some of his ideas about fashion influenced what was going on when I was much younger.
I love that you have such a critical eye when it comes to the arts! Now, go enjoy nature! You are a young renaissance man if ever there was one.

  2. Hey Jack! I'd just like to say that I totally and completely agree with you! It was just not up to par with all the hype that surrounded it. I didnt like Stewart in the role and I thought the dwarves sounded derpy too! But if you get a chance, let me know what you think of the movie Brave :)
