Greg - we just returned from the Lower Salamander rrecreation area. We shoveled two truckloads of rock into the burlap bags and finished just as the rain started again. The mosquitoes are incredible this time of year - especially near the creek. There were flocks of them. We'll be back for another round tomorrow morning when two truckloads of sand will be need to be moved.
Tomorrow will be the first potluck of the year. There will be no campfire ranger program - just a welcome back party. Rumor has it that the Eagles (Bruce and Susan), a local fisherman and his wife, will be bringing coolers full of Dungeness crab and will be giving lessons on "shucking", aka cleaning, it.
Below is a picture of one of many mushrooms colonies growing in wood chips along the Nemo road near the Anita Bay overlook.
Below is the view from our campsite at Nemo Point.

Wow! Spectacular view from your campsite! Jacks looks good after doing all of that chain gang work - it's keeping him busy and out of trouble (Ha Ha!). Are the mushrooms in the colony edible ones? Nice picture of them. That's a pretty gorgeous looking colony, if they are an edible variety, you could always dry some - if that's even possible given all of the rain. We had a hot dry one here in Colorado today. I think it got over 100 degrees in D. and it's only early June.
ReplyDeleteHere on Wyandot Street Pa is giving young Henry a haircut and we are gathered around the blog, soaking up the gorgeousness. Have you picked any mushrooms yet? I bet you get some tasty specimens out there.
